HEET 12 is the integration of cultural histories, traditions, ancestry, spirituality and everyday experiences of life in Kalasin Province in Northeast Thailand (Issan). Comprised of two series of twelve paintings, each work corresponds to one month and the specific festival celebrated during that month. Referencing rural Northeastern life and the elements that make-up contemporary and historical experiences of living with nature, agriculture, weaving, and Buddhism. These stories and traditions can be read in the representations of hand woven fabrics, kernels of rice, and the names of the festivals that twelve of the paintings are titled after. Like the passing of time the paintings are cyclical and calendar- like, one for each month (heet), one for each festival (boon), celebrating and acknowledging the communal connections of every individual to the village.
