Artist's Statement
"Looking at my many times rewritten partitures with scribbling on the borders of the texts and the much written over accompanying manustripts I noticed early on that they had the attraction of works of art. After looking long at them the music notes appeared to develop a furious life of their own apart from all the music. They hurried over the page or hung lazy around between the lines of the staffs. These pages gave me the idea of making pictures in which the music notes and the text were not to hear or understand, but could be visually experienced. Using this idea I then consciously made pictures that I called Two Dimensional Comedies and Farces."
Jörg Maurer's answer to the question: "What led a musician and theaterman to take up brush and paints?"
